Revisão Periódica Universal e DPU: estudo de caso e possibilidades de atuação

This case study aims to present the concrete performance of the Federal Public Defender's Office (DPU) within the scope of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) in favor of the protection and respect of Human Rights. It starts with an introduction to the RPU. It then discusses the possibilities for the DPU to use the UPR to advance human rights in favor of vulnerable people. Afterwards, it presents a concrete case of action in which there was joint action by the Migration, Refuge and Statelessness, Women, and LGBT Working Groups of the DPU for the participation of the Brazilian State in the Universal Periodic Review of the United Arab Emirates. It concludes that the UPR is an important forum for the DPU to claim the protection of human rights.
